SAfeguarding

The DIocesan Safeguarding Statement is available here.

The CSSA guidance for creating a safer environment for parish and group activities and communications between ourselves is available here.

If you have any concerns about safeguarding in our parish you are invited in the first instance to contact our parish safeguarding officer: Mary Rose
  • Alternatively you are welcome to contact the Diocesan Safeguarding team directly. Details are given below.

If you yourself have been abused in childhood the prospect of speaking out now may be frightening.

You may feel that:
• Your concerns would not be taken seriously
• You are afraid that you may not be believed
• You feel that it may cause problems for your family
• You feel ashamed
• You are afraid you will be blamed
• You feel that it may damage your relationships in the Church

If you have been abused you are not to blame for what happened to you. You will be listened to and your concerns will be taken seriously and acted upon as necessary.
  1. A leaflet providing simple guidance and support is offered here.
  2. Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service, providing a confidential, personal and safe space for anyone who has been abused by someone in the Church or as a result of their relationship with the Church of England, the Catholic Church in England and Wales or the Church in Wales. If you have been affected, however long ago, Safe Spaces can provide you with support. You do not have to have told the police or the church authorities, and you do not have to still be involved with the church. Your information will not be shared without your consent unless you or someone else is in immediate danger.
  3. The Isaiah Journey is a working group of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales which has grown out of the need for a pastoral-spiritual response to the suffering of victims and survivors of abuse in the Church.

If you would welcome help,  the Archdiocese of Birmingham Safeguarding Team is available to do all they can to listen to you and support you to find the help you need.

You can speak to them without giving your personal details
