Thank you to those who have volunteered to assist those who are self-isolating.
If you are self-isolating, either as a precaution or because you are ill, and would like assistance, please email the parish
A register of volunteers is being maintained in the parish
Such volunteers can provide basic support such as dropping off food etc - where the person being supported is unable to do this simply because they are following advice to self-isolate.
Where parishioners have more complex needs, and are being assisted with tasks which they are themselves unable to do, irrespective of the request to self-isolate, then, as under normal circumstances, assistance may ONLY be provided by parish volunteers who have received a parish DBS check. Volunteers who already have such a check (eg Parish Visitors) will be used to assist these individuals.

please
A letter of appointment confirming your assisting the parish in this role will be issued, and updated as and when additional individuals needs are entrusted to you. This may be helpful in accessing shops etc.
We absolutely want to support all good activities in the parish to help those in need at this time
and we can take a common sense approach as long as we stick to these safeguards.
Remember there are unscrupulous individuals
who may wish to exploit the current circumstances
which is why the above needs to be followed.

A register of volunteers is being maintained in the parish
- Volunteers should be aged 18 plus
- They should advise family members that they have offered to volunteer
- They should comply with government advice re self-isolation of individuals and households, and withdraw from volunteering as needed (advising the parish and those they have been assisting.)
- They should take precautions when doing the shopping for those at risk. (eg using alcohol gel or gloves (there is no point in isolating if we will be carrying the germs to them)
Such volunteers can provide basic support such as dropping off food etc - where the person being supported is unable to do this simply because they are following advice to self-isolate.
- Volunteers should keep minimal contact both for safeguarding and virus control measures and not enter houses but leave shopping etc on the doorstep.
- Volunteers are encouraged to carry out such activities in pairs can also offer reassurance, and support, but always following virus control guidance.
- Any payments for shopping etc must be very carefully managed and recorded.
